Melo- The word aristocrat is formed from a greek word that means best.
Melo- Each city has it's own laws , it's own army, and it's own money.
Melo- Most importantl, each city has it's own form of grovernment.
Melo- For this reason, ancient greek cities are called city states.
Melo- The four forms of grovernment that developed in the greek city states, Monarchy, Oligarchy, Tyranny, and Democracy.
Melo- From about 2000 to 800 B.C.E, most greek city states were rule by a Monarchy, or king.
Melo- A Monarchy -a single ruler, such as a king, queen, or emperor, who holds all the prower in a country or empire.
Melo- Aristocrat- a member of the most prowerful class in ancient greek society.
